This post is going to help a lot of people reach their goals, I feel. Read on, and you’ll see why. There isn’t actually any concrete information here, it’s a fairly philosophical post about why many people (too many, in fact) fail to achieve their goals. Let’s get into it.
There are many sad truths about our world; yes, some are born to massive wealth whilst others are born to nothing; yes, some people win the lottery while others work fifty years and achieve less wealth. Despite all of this, it is possible to achieve your goals, no matter how great. The issue lies in one of the deepest, darkest corners of the realm of human emotions; fear.
Fear, fear fear, with protecting our lives as a biological purpose, also hinders our ability to surpass our presently known boundaries today. Fear was not designed to stop us from investing our money or selling our investments too early, it was designed to protect us against predators and environmental dangers. Because of our recent “evolutionary growth spurt”, technology has massively evolved over the last few thousand years whilst our own bodies have barely changed at all. Thus, we appropriate our natural emotions to today’s society, whilst in some cases this makes sense, in many, it doesn’t. Let’s take a look at an example; if you see a car rushing towards you, you get out of the way, fear helped! However, if you see that your stocks and bonds are strongly dropping in value, fear indicates that you should sell them ASAP, however, if you know that what you invested in can weather a storm, you need to make an educated decision as to sell, hold, or buy more.
In essence, we are inherently afraid of change and the unknown. We fear irregularity even though our regularity might be flawed. I propose a new way to look at things, a new mindset if you will; We all feel fear, the difference is that successful people take the time and commit the effort to analyze their decisions before jumping the gun. I recommend that you, dear reader, commit yourself to success, don’t let fear stop you, if you make smart, educated decisions, fear is an indicator of success!
Remember, no matter what, there is and always will be one constant in your life, and it’s you.
