Motivation always seems to elude us, don’t worry about it though, it’s only human. Here are four simple tips that can help you remain motivated and achieve your goals.
1. Stop Procrastinating
It seems relatively obvious, but procrastination is not only a dangerous habit for the now. It negatively affects your mindset, procrastination anchors the idea that success is not a necessity to you. In order to stop procrastinating, set yourself systems, use rewards if you have to. The point is that procrastination kills your long, and short term goals.
2. Use Stress to Your Advantage
Stress is so often seen as a massively negative state of mind, this doesn’t have to be the case. Stress is, in a way, the body’s physiological response to get out of a bad situation. If you’re running from a tiger, stress is what’s telling you to hurry up. Stress is also what’s pushing you to commit to a deadline. In order to use stress to your advantage, you have to not only have a goal, but make it a fixed goal. For instance:
DO: “I have to make $1,000 from my startup this month”
Don’t: “I have to make some money from my startup soon”
3. Attach Your Goals to What You Love
This one is simple, if your goals only involve boring, tiring and exhausting work, you’re much less likely to achieve it. In order to avoid this, simply set goals that are connected to what you love, or want to do in life. For example, if you love writing, turn that into a business, don’t open an accounting business.
4. Be Consistent with Your Sleep Schedule
The importance of this one can not be overstated, sleeping is an essential part of life. However, too many people oversleep or don’t sleep enough. Wake up early every day, even weekends and days when you have nothing specific to do. Likewise, sleep early enough to get enough sleep. And it’s very important to be consistent with this schedule in order to be productive and feel motivated.
So, dear reader, if you apply these four tips in your daily life, I assure you, you’ll be one massive step closer to achieving success, whatever it may be for you.
